Wow, the Yankees actually beat an AL East  opponent

Yankees 8, Blue Jays 2

Thank you, Andy Pettitte, for a strong game — 2 runs (1 earned) on 5 hits in 6 innings of work, including 2 strikeouts. Congrats to Brett Gardner for his first major league home run, and congrats to Francisco Cervelli for his first career RBI.

The Yankees are still under .500. They need more games like this one!

People criticize the Yankees (and the Red Sox too, for that matter) for spending so much money on their payroll, claiming that they “buy” their championships. The way the Yankees have played so far this season proves, once and for all, what bullpoop that notion really is. All the money in the world can’t buy wins if a team is just playing like crap.
