Amusing or obnoxious?

Sunday’s Brewers/Giants game ended with a home run off the bat of
Prince Fielder, and he and his teammates had a very unique celebration
at home plate. In case you didn’t see it, here it is:

As Fielder rounded the bases, his teammates gathered behind home plate.

When he got to home plate, he jumped on it…

…and his teammates fell to the ground.

I cracked up laughing when I saw it on “Baseball Tonight.” I thought it was hilarious, although I’m not sure that I would have been quite so amused if I was a Giants fan.

What do you think? Was this funny or too over the top?

Well, it’s different. They obviously planned it ahead of time, to be so well choreographed. Spontaneous celebrations I don’t mind, but this seems a bit immature (though it is sort of amusing – the last screen makes it look like they were bowled over by his B.O. from the upraised arms!).

Being a life-long Brewers fan, I loved the celebration. Let’s face it, these boys are going nowhere fast this season. If they were in first place, or even remotely close to being in a pennant race, they wouldn’t have done it. The fact that they were, at the time, 14 games out of first, had just lost the first 2 games of the series and haven’t had a walk-off win in months, I don’t see anything wrong with a bit of over-the-top celebrating. Think of it as just one big, ginormous untucked shirt. Oh, wait…..
